From June 29 to July 4, 2014 more than 200 scientists met at the International Carotenoid Symposium (ICS) in Park City, Utah (USA). Team members from the DISCO project were among the participants and presented their research at this internationally renowned event.

Prof. Carmen Socaciu, scientific director of Proplanta and Prof. Joseph Hirschberg, Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, chaired an ICS session. During their presentations they described the DISCO initiative and advertised its activities in the field of carotenoid research to the audience.

Dr. Liki von Oppen-Bezalel, VP Business Development and Marketing and Dr. Fabien Havas, Head of R&D, at IBR Ltd presented a poster showing data of the photoprotective, skin lightening and anti-aging benefits of phytoene and phytofluene taken orally as PhytoflORAL®, a food supplement containing IBR’s proprietary phytoene- & phytofluene-rich (and lycopene-free) tomato powder.

The International Carotenoid Symposium (ICS) is the largest global organization of scientists from various disciplines who are investigating carotenoids at a broad perspective, from chemistry through biology to medicine. The triennial Society Symposium is the most important and consequential event in the carotenoid field of research and is organized by the International Carotenoid Society (ICS).
