The MPI of Molecular Plant Physiology opened its doors for the public

September 9, 2014

Under the slogan ‘From microcosm to the universe’, the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology (MPI-MP) welcomed visitors to an open day at the Potsdam-Golm Science Park on September 6th 2014 and promised an exciting program of science for all ages. An array of information stands, tours and lectures were available to the interested public. Members of DISCO were at hand to inform visitors of the project and their research at this collaborative event.

Prof. Ralph Bock, director of the MPI-MP, offered fascinating and entertaining insight into the DISCO project. Team members of the MPI-MP presented their research with lectures, guided tours and hands-on experiments on cell and tissue culture and plant transformation.

Among the audience were distinctive guests Prof. Sabine Kunst, Minister for Science, Research and Culture of the Federal State of Brandenburg, and Anita Tack, Minister for Environment, Health and Consumer Protection of the Federal State of Brandenburg who received a VIP-Tour from Prof. Bock showing the institutions facilities and explaining his research in greater detail.
