Training mission of RHUL Early Stage Researcher at IGA-TS

June 02, 2016

The DISCO partner institution IGA Technology Services (IGA-TS) located in Udine (Italy) hosted a short-term training mission for Rebecca Nohl, a PhD student working for DISCO’s co-ordinator Prof. Paul Fraser (RHUL, UK). During her stay in May 2016, Rebecca was taught how to analyse, visualise and interpret RNA-Seq data through the Tophat-Cufflinks pipeline. The outputs of the data processed will feed directly into her project on colour development in sweet bell peppers; candidates for molecular markers influencing colour phenotype will be generated. Rebecca will disseminate her acquired skills; showing other members of the institute how to apply the method to data from other transcriptome studies. The training mission was highly valuable: much useful knowledge was gained, and the whole experience was positive.
