October 15, 2014

As part of its first progress meeting the DISCO consortium invites the interested public to a meeting on November 13th, 2014 in Santiago de Chile. The meeting will take place from 8.30h until 14.00h at the Centro de Estudios Avanzados y Extension of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV).

Within the course of the public meeting, members of the consortium will present the DISCO project to the attendees by giving talks ranging from ‘gene discovery for secondary metabolites in plants’ to ‘chloroplast transformation in plants’. Furthermore, a number of external speakers such as Claudia Stange (Universidad de Chile), Jörg Bohlman (University of British Columbia), Vitalia Henríquez (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso) and Pilar Bañados (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) will present their research during the public meeting. Alongside this, early stage researchers will also have the opportunity to give an insight into their work.

In addition, the DISCO consortium will be part of an Industry Round Table discussion which will take place in the afternoon of November 13th, 2014. During the Industry Round Table the possibilities of utilizing DISCO products in industry will be discussed with representatives from local Chilean companies.

Both Public Meeting and Industry Round Table promise to be an interesting array of presentations and discussions welcome to the interested public.
