Technische Universitaet Dortmund

The Technische Universitaet Dortmund (TUDo) is within the top 5 technical universities in Germany with international reputation in the fields of logistics, chemical biology and bioengineering. The faculty of bioengineering is ranked on 3rd position in Europe reflecting its scientific output on the fields of biotechnology and bioprocess design and strong interdisciplinary between engineering and natural sciences.

Prof. Oliver Kayser is chair of the department Technical Biochemistry. He has over 20 years of experience in conducting research and leading research teams on national (DFG, DBU, AiF, KNAW) and European level (FP5). In this time Prof. Kayser has worked on the analysis of natural products, biosynthesis of terpenoids and lignans, heterologous expression of terpenoid related genes in heterologous hosts like E. coli, S. cerevisiae and P. pastoris and flux analysis of terpenoid precursors.

The team of Prof. Kayser will contribute its expertise in the fields of bioprospecting, engineering of secondary metabolite pathways, systems biology, “omics” techniques and Solanaceae diversity collections for alkaloid production to the DISCO project.
