SB Drug Discovery

SB Drug Discovery (formerly Scottish Biomedical) was established in 1994. It is a self-funded pre-clinical drug discovery services company principally for the Pharmaceutical and Biotech industries. The capabilities and expertise of SB are in the areas of molecular biology, protein production, primary & secondary assay development, high-throughput screening and pharmacology with experience in disease areas including inflammation, CNS disorders, pain and metabolism. SB has a worldwide client base including multi-national pharmaceutical companies, biotech's and academic labs and have successfully completed over 400 research projects for their clients.

Dr Ian McPhee is the Scientific Director at SB Drug Discovery and has over 20 years’ experience in the areas of signal transduction and second messengers.
Within the DISCO project SB will provide bioactive assessment of compounds from biodiversity library using a pyramidal approach to identify the key targets involved and their disease relevance. SB has a range of in vitro, cell based ex vivo and in vivo models which can be employed as necessary to refine and focus on the bioactivity.
